Women Suffrage
Today we read a texts about women suffrage it was based on a New Zealander name Kate Sheppard. She was the leader who stated women suffrage, women suffrage is a protest to vote. She did this because there were not fair rules like women just cooking, clean and looked after kids all day and men were over powered and the men got to do anything. here is some questions about women suffrage
What year did Maori men get the vote? By 1867 gold miners and Maori men could also vote to decide the government.
Why did most people think women should not vote? Because they need someone to clean the house and look after everything.
What does the phrase "drinking their wage" mean? Wasting your money on alcohol and you will have no more money.
How did the WCTU help the poor? The WCTU put soup shops in hospitals and prisons to stop men buying alcohol
What was the main form of protest that the women used to change the law? All of the women sighing a big peace of paper witch had over 25.000 people that sighed it, then Kate Sheppard headed up the WCTU and showed all of the men.
Why is Kate Sheppard on our $10 note? because she was the first ever women to make women vote.
